Nirmalya is an inspirational vocalist whose passion in music was recognized by his mother at early age. It was she who had inspired him to cultivate his talent in music. He had begun training in classical music with Prof. Sunirmal Bhattacharya from Bishwa Bharati University. He was also trained in Khayal by the late Govinda Prasad Debnath, a disciple of Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri. Later Nirmalya came under the guidance of Pandit Amiya Ranjan Banerjee, a renowned vocalist of Vishnupur Gharana.
Nirmalya, a Sangeet Visharad, had consistently achieved top positions in various music competitions including in Khayal at Rajya Sangeet Academy, All India Music Competition – Gauwahati, Music India Competition of Ghazals and Golden Talent Contest sponsored by HMV. He participated in Rajgir festival in 1997. In the year of 2000 for his performance, he was awarded the National Scholarship from India Government. Nirmalya is currently associated with Zee-TV in various capacities, the most recent being the title music composer and singer of the Bengali version of the very popular programme SaReGaMaPa. Nirmalya is currently associated with Zee-TV in various capacities, the most recent being the title music composer and singer of the Bengali version of the very popular programme SaReGaMaPa.

He is also the lead singer of the Music Band Nirmalya became a Scholar at the prestigious Sangeet Research Academy of kolkata under the guidance of his guru Pandit Arun Bhaduri. Nirmalya’s performances continue to be aired regularly on All India Radio as well as various Television networks (Zee-TV, Tara-TV, E-TV, DD-7 Calcutta Doordarshan, etc). He has also done many jingles for various TV channels. He has mastered equal expertise in light classical, devotional, Hindi and Bengali film songs, Ghazals, Modern songs, etc. Nirmalya’s first audio cassette “Nijere Harai” was nominated for Ananda Bazar Patrika’s Bengali music Award in Ananda Purashkar.
Four Cassettes and CDs of Bengali Modern Songs has also been released from Atlantis Music – BMG Crescendo & Venus Audio. Nirmalya also has released CDs and Cassettes of Bhajans, Modern Bengali songs and Nazrul Geeti. Nirmalya has been regulary participating in vocal recitals and conducting music workshops extensively throughout India, United Sates and Canada since quite a few years now.
In 2017, he played back for the Bollywood movie 'The Final Exit'.As well as playback for many Bengali movies, such as, "Atta ater bonga local","Golondaaj - best movie and best song 2021","Durgeshgorer Guptodhon"-Most popular Movie 2019, "Guptodhoner Sondhane, 'Aborto ','Jara bristite bhijechhilo', 'Anuranan', Durga Sohay among others Type Writer , Avijatik 2022, The Gandhi
Nirmalya has also sung in numerous telefilms and serials. -The artist has released a number of albums, including some internationally.He sang a song called "Meluha" for the album Vayuputras, Composed by Pt.Bickram Ghosh and the book written by Amish Tripathi released by Amitabh Bachchan ji
He Works as a Director, Mentor, Judge, and Music Director in, Sa Ra Ga Ma Pa Zee TV Bangla reality show,Regularly perform on different TV channels like ZEE Bangla tv, E tv, Tara tv, Akash 8, Ruposhi Bangla Etc.
He Sang and composed the song for India Bangladesh border, Joint retreated Ceremony.
He performed ‘BENGAL GLOBAL BUSINESS SUMMIT 2016’ with Ustad Rashid Khan and Pt Bickram Ghosh ( West Bengal Govt) In 2022 he sang the title song of the Vande Bharatam project for the 73rd Republic Day celebration.
